On the evening of July 6, the male hawk flew into the nest and left again. I am able to identify the male hawk by the lighter, almost white, colored feathers on the under front part of his wings. The female is a little larger in size I believe and her wings in this same are are more brown colored.

Also, the head of the female hawk is more brown colored and the male's head is darker. almost grey slate colored. If you look at the photos here and in the
photo album you can see these differences in coloration.
